Hibachi catering in Sandestin

Sandestin is a large gated resort rather than a town, and that one fact shapes every booking inside it. Gulf-front towers sit on one side of Highway 98, bay-side villas and golf-course homes on the other, Baytowne Wharf sits in the middle, and a security gate sits between all of it and the road. Guests arrive with a vehicle pass. Vendors have to be expected. The properties themselves are generous by comparison with a condo strip: villas with real patios, homes with driveways and open courtyards, towers with shared decks. Finding 6 ft x 4 ft of level ground with open sky above it is rarely the difficulty here. Getting the chef through the gate at the right time is the part worth arranging in advance, and it is the thing we ask about first when a Sandestin address comes in.

Where we set up in Sandestin

A bay-side villa or a golf-course home usually gives us the easiest setup on this coast: a patio, a driveway or a courtyard, level, with nothing overhead. The gulf-front towers are the ones to check, because a shared pool deck is shared, and using it for a private dinner is a question for the resort rather than for us. We need roughly 6 ft x 4 ft, about 3 feet of standing room on the chef's side, and genuinely open sky. A pergola with a canvas top, a screened lanai or a low soffit rules a spot out, and it is better to find that two weeks ahead than at six o'clock on the night.

Getting to you

Everything inside Sandestin is behind the gate, so the practical work is arranging vendor access rather than navigating. Tell us the gate you want us to use and send the code or the pass arrangement with your booking confirmation, and give the guardhouse the chef's name if the resort asks for it in advance. The chef arrives about 45 minutes before your seating, which is built into the timing rather than something you need to manage. Sandestin is outside the 30A zone where we charge nothing for travel, so travel is priced against your exact address on the booking form and shown before you commit.

Bachelorette and birthday parties in Sandestin

Sandestin takes a different mix from the 30A towns. Corporate groups come here for the golf and the conference space, and a team dinner at the villa on the first night is a far better start than a restaurant on Baytowne Wharf where nobody can hear each other. Bachelorette groups come for the same reason anyone does, and the resort suits them because the whole weekend is inside one gate and nobody has to drive. Birthdays follow the families. For corporate bookings the two things worth knowing early are that we invoice rather than split a bill at the table, and that we will work to a fixed finish time if the evening has somewhere to be afterwards. Rates do not change here: $60 per adult on the 2-protein plate, $70 for three, $30 per child aged 5 to 12, and a second chef above 18 guests at no extra charge.

Sandestin venue rules worth knowing

  • Confirm vendor access and the gate arrangement with the resort before the date
  • Confirm whether a shared pool deck may be used for a private dinner
  • Confirm the property allows outdoor cooking equipment

Sandestin questions

How does the chef get through the Sandestin gate?

You arrange it, and it takes one message. Send the gate code or the vendor pass arrangement with your booking confirmation and give the guardhouse the chef's name if the resort wants it in advance. It is the single most common reason a resort booking runs late, and it is entirely avoidable.

Can you cook on a shared pool deck at a Sandestin tower?

Sometimes, but it is the resort's call rather than ours. A shared deck used for a private dinner needs the property's approval, and a villa patio, driveway or courtyard avoids the question entirely. Tell us which property you are in and we will tell you what to ask.

Do you invoice for a corporate dinner at Sandestin?

Yes. Corporate bookings are invoiced rather than settled at the table, and we will hold to a fixed finish time if the evening has somewhere to be afterwards. Tell us both when you book.
